This year’s Canterbury Arts Conference (CArtsCon) was a qualified success bringing together nearly 30 presenters and workshop leaders over 4 days.
The conference is sponsored by Warnborough College Ireland, and hosted by our sister school, Warnborough College UK in the beautiful and historic city of Canterbury. It incorporates a schools art competition for schoolgoers aged from 6 to 18.

The theme for 2019 is “Changing the Narrative”, and the aim was to challenge both speakers and participants to expound on the topic in as many diverse ways as possible.

Our Cultural Art History and Fine Arts Programme Director, Dr Jill Kiefer, co-directed the conference and presented two sessions. Recent PhD in Fine Art Education, Dr Libby Scandale, presented a session how struggling teenage readers could be encouraged to improve using the visual arts. Professor Urs Hauenstein led a very enjoyable group painting exercise. Even our own registry officer, Laura Cadonna, presented a session entitled ‘Men Doing Feminism – Authority and Authenticity in Feminist Art’.
