ERASMUS+ is a European Union (EU) funding programme which enables support activities in education, training, youth and sport in all sectors of lifelong learning (Higher Education, Further Education, adult education, schools, youth activities, etc).

Warnborough College Ireland is pleased to participate in ERASMUS+ projects and work with European and other partners.

Key Info

You can ask your school to apply for money for training teachers (or students) and teacher/student exchanges. The scheme that you do this through is ERASMUS+ Key Action 1.

Who can apply?

Organisations across all sectors of education and training in the EU (also including Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland) may apply for ERASMUS+ funding. Organisations can be public or private. Your organisation has to apply, not you. There are still some available grants for individuals, but the individuals themselves cannot apply for funding.

Therefore, speak to your school and ask them to support your funding application.

When must I do this?

Check the deadlines for submission with your local funding agency.

We are happy to provide as much support with documentation as we can. Contact us once your school confirms that it will support you through this method.

What do you need?

  1. Read and understand what is required of ERASMUS+ (or get the person in charge at your school to do so).
  2. If your school is keen to do this, it must submit a development plan requesting grants for staff to be trained at Warnborough College. The plan should be in line with the EU 2020 Education, Training, Youth and Sport Proposal.
  3. Your school must have a special PIC number in order to participate in any ERASMUS+ programme. If it hasn’t got one, it can register at the European Commission’s Participant Portal.
  4. If your school gets the funding, you can then choose which Warnborough College course you would like to do.
  5. Our courses are listed in the ERASMUS+ School Education Gateway Catalogue.

Forms are available on the Erasmus+ web site, to help you prepare, you can look at examples of them by clicking here.

We are always looking for partners for cooperation (Key Action 2), be they small-scale, strategic, innovative or capacity-building. Warnborough has been involved in teacher training and vocational development partnerships in countries as diverse as Russia, Serbia, Finland, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Areas include:

  • Partnerships for Cooperation, including Cooperation Partnerships and Small-scale Partnerships;
  • Partnerships for Excellence, including Centres for Vocational Excellence, Teachers Academy and Erasmus Mundus Action;
  • Partnerships for Innovation, including Alliances and Forward-looking projects;
  • Capacity Building projects in the field of youth;
  • Not-for-profit European sport events.

This Key Action is expected to result in the development, transfer and/or implementation of innovative practices at organisational, local, regional, national or European levels.

Key Action 3 provides support to policy cooperation at European Union level, thereby contributing to the development of new policies, which can trigger modernisation and reforms, at European Union, and systems' level, in the fields of education, training youth and sport.
