Beautiful Budapest Beginning

Our BuildingVids project kicked off in the beautiful city of Budapest, Hungary the week beginning 20th November. The project comprises six partners:

  1. EK Association (Hungary) Coordinator
  2. Warnborough College (Ireland)
  3. Instituto de Educación Secundaria Séneca  (Spain)
  4. Max-Born-Berufskolleg (Germany)
  5. Békéscsabai Vásárhelyi Pál Alapítvány (Hungary)
  6. Tallinna Polütehnikum (Estonia)

The kickoff meeting was hosted by EK Association, with support from the partner Békéscsaba. Refreshments were provided in the form of local Hungarian goodies. At the kickoff meeting, partners introduced themselves through presentations and videos.

The project is about helping architectural students from the different partner countries to learn architectural (and related) terms and concepts in a different language in order to be able to articulate their ideas clearly and fluently in that language. A key component of the process is using interactive videos and lessons that students can review on their own (or in class, with a teacher).

Gábor Palotás of EK Association laid out the plans for the project, the objectives that partners need to fulfil and allocating responsibilities to those present. Dr Julian Ng of Warnborough College gave a short presentation on the considerations for the way forward, asking the partners to agree on some key details which would help the project move forward.

Much was achieved in a short space of time. In the meantime, attendees had the opportunity to sample some delicious Hungarian cuisine in various restaurants, do a walking tour of Budapest, and even visit the (re)construction site of Klotild Palace, which will be turned in a six-star St Regis hotel in 2025. A big koszonom (thank you) to our Hungarian partners for a very memorable kickoff meeting.
