The TVET Alliance Summit took place at the sumptuous Villa il Poggiale set in the Tuscan hills outside Florence in Italy. The Summit was organised by the Skillman Alliance (comprising IVETA, AER, ENNI, and EAPRIL) in collaboration with the European Training Foundation over two days (5 – 6 April, 2022). Warnborough College Ireland was there representing IVETA’s European region.
The Summit’s main purpose was to bring together all of the SkillNet project partners together with high-level TVET stakeholders who share a common desire to co-design an inclusive, resilient and sustainable society, while reshaping the TVET of the future. TVET stands for technical, vocational education and training. “Building tomorrow’s society” was the ultimate goal of the event, and a declaration was drafted based on the results that emerged during the Summit.
Where next from SIF2021?
The starting point was the analysis of the results achieved during the 2021 Skillman International Forum (SIF2021). The two-day event simultaneously involved both TVET stakeholders and SkillNet project partners developing best practices and the bases for a future extended alliance.
Key SIF2021 concepts and salient thoughts from the experts were presented and analysed by participants. Divided into working groups, participants were able to identify and draw conclusions leading to declarative statements of the activities and concepts that are important for the next phase of the Alliance.
These key messages and outstanding results of the SkillNet project were discussed during the final plenary session when both project partners and stakeholders came together. Stay tuned as we will reveal the next steps for reshaping the TVET world and a sustainability strategy for the future of the Alliance.
Not All Work and No Play
During the two days, participants were also able to network in person (something we had all missed incredibly during the pandemic), spend time socialising, and even engaging in some live entertainment!
