Postgraduate Certificate in Cultural Art History

Introduction

Want to heighten your understanding of the relationship between culture, and art and architecture through the ages and across the globe, while earning a Postgraduate Diploma in Cultural Art History?

Our courses survey the chronological development of the fine arts and architecture, from Pre-History to the present, and our complementary lectures focus on diverse selected topics from Ancient Roman wall paintings to Mexican murals, and from Ancient Greek temples to Frank Lloyd Wright’s museums.

The program will enable you to gain valuable insights into individual and collective artistic expressions, social movements, and historical events through art and architecture, and will enhance your ability to appreciate, analyse, critique, and write about their meanings and significance.

Postgraduate Certificate in Cultural Art History

Advanced students or graduates in disciplines such as Anthropology, Archaeology, Art, Art Therapy, Creative Writing, Cultural Studies, Engineering, English, History, Journalism, Psychology, or Sociology, among others, can add the knowledge and skills obtained through the Certificate in History of Art to their academic programs.

Certificate in History of Art: 4 modules = 32 ECTS

  • 3 modules = 24 ECTS in History of Art from Pre-History to the Present (Parts I, III, and III)
  • 1 module = 8 ECTS elective courses and/or classes with focus on particular artistic forms, traditions, or individual artists

See full module list here.

Work your way through the modules at your own pace. Each course you complete will earn you 1 module (8 ECTS) that you can use towards achieving the Certificate (4 modules). You can also transfer the credits to more advanced programs such as the Postgraduate Diploma, Master of Arts, or PhD qualifications. All modules are completed through distance online learning and are individually supported by a professor of Cultural Art History. There is no specific start date, so you can flexibly choose when and how you wish to study.

The Kent Arts Conference is sponsored by Warnborough College Ireland each year, and students are actively encouraged to participate in this. It is a great opportunity to present research or workshops, and to meet other like-minded contacts.
